Ellie Arias (1996) is a Latin-American, LGBTQ+ artist living in Tampa, Fl. After receiving an Associate of Arts degree in Studio Art at Miami Dade College, she transferred to the University of South Florida to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art with a specialization in Printmaking.

Ellie uses printmaking and textiles to create work based on the traumatic experience of sexual assault. She merges the act of carving a block, printing the image on old bed sheets and then quilting the images together as a metaphor for the act of assault, grief, and the healing process. The process of cutting and carving a linoleum block is just as important to her as the final image as the precise, deep cuts made by steel tools parallel the traumatic events a survivor may have faced. She uses these pieces for self-healing, but also as a way to bring awareness to the subject.
