Edna B Loves the Movies
My work is inspired by the visual appeal of the early days of animation, and the storylines of old European fairytales. The animated works of the 1930s and 1940s are captivating for many reasons. Their illustration styles range from toony, rubbery figures, to fully rendered human forms. I want to emulate the use of the toony aesthetic, to visually align myself with those works. The animated works of the 30s and 40s often based their storylines off of well-known fairytales, and I want to do the same. I have been personally interested in fairy tale narratives since early childhood, but I want to use the more contemporary art form of animation to help modernize the typical fairytale story.
